Regulating Act O f 1773 -:Introduction:- It was the first step taken by the British Government to control and regulate the East India Company. It also recognizes the political and administrative functions of the East India Company. It laid the foundation of central administration in India. -:Features:- 1. It designated the Governor of Bengal as Governor-General of Bengal, and Lord Warren Hasting had become the First Governor-General. 2. The Act also created an Executive council of four members to assist the Governor-General of Bengal. 3. It made the governors of Bombay and Madras presidencies sub-ordinate to the governor-general of Bengal. 4.
